In the Dark Valley
Mrs. Lina J. Palmer.-
Mrs. Lina J. Palmer died at the home of daughter, Mrs. Guss Palmer, northwest of Hallsville, Friday night, December 9, 1904, of typhoid fever.
The funeral services were conducted at Friendship, Sunday, by Elder Suber.
Mrs. Palmer was born in Boone county, on January 8, 1842. She was sixty-two years, eleven months and one day old.
Six children were born to her of whom five survive: Mrs. Carry Palmer, wife of Guss Palmer; Tucker Palmer, of Centralia; Thomas W. Palmer, of near Columbia; Omer H. Palmer, of Rush Hill, and Luther O. Palmer, who lives with his brother near Columbia.
She joined the Christian church at the age of seventeen and lived a constant Christian life till her death.
She will be greatly missed by her many friends and relatives.
Farewell, dear mother, sweet thy rest,
Weary with years and worn with pain;
Farewell, till in some happy place
We shall behold thy face again.
"Tis ours to miss thee, all our years,
And tender memories of the keep;
Thine in the Lord to rest, for so
He giveth his beloved sleep. T.W.
