SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Marian R. Jensen, 87, of South Sioux City passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at a Sioux City Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, Neb., with the Rev. Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Emerson. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., with the Rev. James de Anda officiating, at Becker - Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.

Marian was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Emerson, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Schwarten) VanLent. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Emerson. She married Donald H. VonSeggern on May 4, 1943. He died Aug. 20, 1963. She then married Milo L. Jensen on March 1, 1978. He died Oct. 12, 2009. She retired from Great West Casual Insurance Company.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City.

She enjoyed her flowers and the birds. Her family and grandchildren were the most important part of her life.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Dan and Nadine VonSeggern of Lincoln, Neb., and Terry and Barb VonSeggern of Emerson; two daughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Aaron Foix of Hornick, Iowa, and Lynette and Alonzo Ross of St. Louis, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Margaret and her husband Denny Turner of Sioux Falls, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Donald VonSeggern and Milo Jensen; two sons, Ronnie and Steve VonSeggern; an infant daughter, Barbara VonSeggern; a brother, Raymond VanLent; and two sisters, Dolores Alexander and Sally Paulsen.
