Denver Kelso Payne, 85, Louisville, Ky., formerly of Morgan County, died July 19, 2007, at Saints Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Spencer, he was the son of the late Ivan Wilson and Clara (Sharon) Payne. He is survived by his wife, Mary Belle (Bolin) Payne of Louisville, Ky., whom he married June 7, 1941.

He was a truck driver for Farm Bureau Co-Op Hatchery Division in Indianapolis, retiring in 1981. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Indianapolis from 1974 to 2004. He was currently a member of Christian Assembly Church in Louisville, Ky.

Survivors include two sons, Norman Ray Payne of Martinsville and Terry Clark Payne of Gosport; two daughters, Carol Ann Garrett of Franklin and Linda Joyce Brown of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Charles Allen Payne of Florida; two sisters, Eileen Ames of Lebanon and Marie Cook of Martinsville; nine grandchildren, Kevin Ray, Rex Allen, Tony Ray and Terry Joe Payne, Christina Rogers, Timothy Dean Garrett, Rella Angela Ingram, Connie Lynn Davis and Lori Ann Bartholomew; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Payne; a brother, Thornton Payne; a half-brother, Chester Payne; four half-sisters, Vera Steiner, Crystal and Gertrude Brummett and Freda Schaaf; and a great-grandchild, Terri Faye Payne.
