John C. Lutze, 89, a former Village of Cleveland resident, died Thursday night at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness. Born on March 1, 1880, in the Town of Centerville, he was a son of the late Edward and Margaret Reinemann Lutze.
On Oct. 19, 1907, he married the former Louise Wagner. The couple resided in the Town of Centerville where they farmed until 1943 when they retired and moved to Cleveland. Mrs. Lutze died in 1964. Since March of 1968 Mr. Lutze had lived at St. Mary's Home for the Aged in Manitowoc. He was a member of St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cleveland.
Survivors include one son, John, on the homestead; one sister, Mrs. John Lorfeld of Cleveland; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Cleveland, the Rev. Henry Koch, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Saxon Cemetery, Town of Centerville. Friends may call at the Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel, Cleveland, after 6 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday and at the church from noon until the hour of services.
