He was born Feb. 28, 1886, in the Town of Centerville, a son of the late Robert and Emma Hauenstein Lutze. He was married to Antonia Jost on June 28, 1913. The couple operated the Lutze homestead farm in Centerville until their retirement in December, 1947. Since that time, they made their home in Cleveland. Mr. Lutze was a member of Ss. John and Peter Lutheran Church at Cleveland.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Milton (Caroline) Rodewald, Sheboygan; three grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Marx, Cleveland. His parents, an infant son and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ss. John and Peter Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eldon M. Bode, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Saxon Cemetery at Cleveland.

The body will lie in state at the Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel, Cleveland, from 2 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday, and at the church from Wednesday noon until the hour of services.
