Helen M. Larson
1918 – 2005 Chanute, KS

Helen Marie Larson, 87, Chanute, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at her home.

She was born May 22, 1918, on Sunny Hill Farm in rural Vilas, the daughter of Gustaf M. and Anna Hanson Larson. She attended school in Lindsborg, graduating from Lindsborg High School in 1935. She earned her RN degree from Trinity Lutheran Hospital, Kansas City, in 1940.

She moved to Chanute in 1951 and worked for 37 years as a nurse for Dr. Abbuehl and Dr. Ashley. She also worked at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center for seven years before retiring.

She was a member of Vilas Bethel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Albert Larson, and a sister, Harriet Larson.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home, led by the Rev. J. Rolland Christenson. Burial will be in Vilas Bethel Cemetery on west 21st St.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where memorials to Trinity Lutheran Hospital Nursing Center may be left.

Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, Chanute, is in charge of arrangements.
