Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Hilgeman, 84, of 3710 S. 15th St., who died Friday evening, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Church of Christ. The Rev. Charles Koch, pastor, and the Rev. Clarence Schmidt, will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery, Town of Herman. Friends may call at Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight and at the church from 11 'a.m. Tuesday until the time of service.
The former Alice Flenner, she was born in Elyria, Ohio, on Aug. 23, 1896, a daughter of George and Anna Brugh Flenner. She attended school in Elyria and graduated from Heidelburg College in Tiffin, Ohio, in 1918. She received a degree in nursing from Harper Hospital,. Detroit, Mich., in 1921. Mrs. Hilgeman was a nurse with the Detroit Department of Health and then served as a missionary nurse in China for 12 years
On Sept. 25, 1928, she and the Rev. Theophilus Hilgeman were married in Detroit. They came to the Sheboygan area in 1946. He died in 1972.
Mrs. Hilgeman was a member of St. Paul UCC, its Women's Guild, the American Association of University Women and the Sheboygan chapter.
Surviving are two sons, Paul of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jonathon of Irvine, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Irwin of Tiffin, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one grandson.
A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Hilgeman's name.
