William married Abigail Larrison on 7-19-1813. After their marriage Abigail taught him to read and write. He became an ordained minister in October, 1834. He preached over 40 years and according to his obit in the Louisville Courier Journal he had baptized 2052 people.
He and his wife had 22 children. The 14 who lived to be adults are John Patton, Hiram, Cynthia, George Martin, Elizabeth, James, Susan, Joseph, David, Nancy, Hezekiah, Abigail Isaac and Sally.
Their daughter Susan married Jeptha "J.P. Watson on July 18, 1839. No trace of them has been found since the 1880 census.
