Gilman Jerome Aasen, 83, Mayville, died Wednesday, March 12, 1997, in Union Hospital, Mayville.
Mr. Aasen was born Sept. 17, 1913, near Hatton, N.D. He moved with his family in 1919 to a farm near Mayville where he grew up and attended school. On Oct. 17, 1940, he married Marjorie Braaten in Crookston, Minn. They lived in Mayville where he owned a servicestation and later a grain elevator and trucking firm with his brothers. He retired in 1985.
He is survived by his wife; seven daughters, Rose (Glenn) Thoreson and Joan (Michael) Osland, both Mayville, Dorothy (Jeff) Sheldon, Regent, N.D., Sharon (Jim) Berthiaume, Bloomington, Minn., Judy (Henry) Noel, Hallock, Minn., Debra (Jon) Lenzen, Menahga, Minn., Karen (Scott) Kost, Farmington, Minn.; three brothers, Orlo (Margaret), Carl (Avis), Ernest (Gladys), all Mayville; two sisters, Adeline (Gene) Ellingrud, Mesa, Ariz., Donna (Earle) Bakkum, Mayville; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Today from 4 to 7 in Baker Funeral Home, Mayville, and one hour before the funeral in the church.
Funeral: Saturday at 2 in First American Lutheran Church, Mayville.
