She was born on April 15, 1899 in Streeter, N.D., a daughter of John L. Graf Jr. and Katherine (Buck) Graf.
On Sept. 26, 1920, she married the Rev. Carl D. Maurer and went with him to his first pastorate in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, Canada. In late 1921, Mary accompanied him to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, where he ministered to Salem Reformed Church (later Evangelical and Reformed, later United Church of Christ) until he died in 1959.
Mary then moved to Sheboygan, where she lived the rest of her life. In Winnipeg, she was long the president of the Salem Church Ladies' Aid Society. In her life, she was independent in thought and act. She had always a loving concern for her husband and son. Underneath everything, was a quiet trust in God.
Mary is survived by a, son, A. E. Wallace Maurer, Columbus and Dublin, Ohio; two grandsons, Randall Avery (Kim) Maurer and Jeffrey Everitt Maurer, and one great-grandson, Randall Austin Maurer, all of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Erna Haynes, Plains, Mont.; a brother, Ted (Esther) Graf, Streeter, N.D. and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services for Mary will be held at Zion United Church of ChrisV .1125 N. 6th St., on Monday, Feb. 17, at 1 :30 p.m., with the Rev. Steven Pedersen, pastor, officiating. Friends are welcome at the CHURCH, on Monday, after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Immanuel U.C.C. Cemetery, Town of Herman. Memorials, in Mary's name, may be given to a fund designated for Zion United Church of Christ. Lippert Funeral Home is serving the family.
