On September 12, 1918, John Adams, aged 45, born March 19, 1873 in Russia, registered for the draft during World War I, stating that; he was a non-declarant alien, was employed as a duck farmer, by William H. Mott, in Eastport, NY, and gave the name of John Michne, of Eastport, NY as his nearest relative. He was shown to be of medium height, medium build, with brown eyes and gray hair.

In 1920, Joseph Adams, aged 50, married, a laborer doing general work, was living in Southampton, NY, a boarder in the home of Felix Nidzyn, aged 27, and his wife, Sophie Nidzyn, aged 30, and their children, Benny Nidzyn, aged 5, Bertha Nidzyn, aged 2 years, 11 months, and Mike Nidzyn, aged 1 year, 1 month. Born in Polish Russia he was shown to have come to the United States in 1904 and was an alien who could both read and write.

In 1940, Joseph Adams, aged 66, was living on Carleton Avenue, Central Islip, NY, an inmate at the Central Islip State Hospital. Born in Poland, he was shown to be married and had lived in Speonk, NY, in 1935.
