COLUMBIANA – Ruth A. Parker, 85, of 2619 W. South Range Road, passed away at 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at Whispering Pines Village in Columbiana.
Mrs. Parker was born Aug. 18, 1922 in Boyers Corners, the daughter of Emil and Bertha Getz Ranft.
Ruth moved to Columbiana in 1941 and worked at the Nichols' Bakery in North Lima as a sales clerk for four years. She was also a clerk at Ryan's News in Columbiana for nine years and worked at Lemon Tree Flowers for five years.
She was of the Lutheran Faith.
Mrs. Parker loved the Cleveland Indians, crossword puzzles and her bell collection. She also enjoyed bird watching.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death on Feb. 20, 2001 by her husband, Ralph E. Parker, whom she married Nov. 19, 1941.
She is survived by her daughter, Billie and husband Byron Eichorn Jr. of Columbiana; a son, Rickie E. Parker of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Grace E. Noble of Columbiana; a brother, Russell Ranft of Youngstown; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Ranft; a grandson, Adam Eichorn; and three half-brothers, Roy Winsper, Earl Winsper and William Winsper.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 25, 2007, at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Robert Noble officiating.
Burial will be in Green Haven Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests that donations can be made to M.V.I. Hospice Care, 4891 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, OH 44505.
