James Colonel Brown, 81, of
Ferguson, Mo., formerly of
Burlington, died Friday, July 15,
1977, at Jewish Hospital, St. Louis
Mo. He had been ill for more than
two years.
Born Aug. 12, 1895, in
Burlington Township, Carroll
County, he was the son of James
D. and Minnie Newer Brown. He
was married Feb. 8, 1918, to
Francis Eva Hill, who died Nov.
22, 1973.
He was an ordained minister
and a retired insurance
executive.
Brown was graduated from
Burlington High School in 1914
and from the University of
Michigan. A resident of Ferguson
for more than 40 years, he was a
member of the Burlington
Masonic Lodge No. Ill, Scottish
Rite, York Rite and Shrine.
Surviving are a son, James F.
Brown of Ferguson, Mo.; one
brother, John D. Brown of Rt. 1,
Bringhurst; one sister, Miss Fern
Brown of Holiday, Fla., and two
grandchildren.
One brother and one sister
preceded him in death.
Services were Tuesday at
Neptune Funeral Home,
Burlington, with the Rev. Albert
Curtright officiating. Burial was
in Deer Creek Cemetery.
