George Edward Burt of 181 Brook road, died on Tuesday at his home after an illness of seven weeks. He had been in poor health for several years. Mr. Burt was born in Milton, 90 years ago last June 22, and had lived here all his life. He was in the contracting business in Mattapan until his retirement about 17 years ago. For 40 years from 1899 to 1939 he was building inspector for the Town of Milton.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at the Waterman Funeral chapel, 495 Commonwealth avenue, Boston. Rev. Mr. Eaton of the Mt. Vernon church, Boston, will officiate and burial will be in Milton Cemetery.
Mr. Burt is survived by two daughters, Miss D. Crane Burt of the home address, Mrs. Florence F. Adams of Texas, and one son, John H. Burt of Milton. He also leaves 11 grandsons, and four great grandchildren."
