Mr. Nelson retired from the United States Army after serving
21 years. While serving his country, Mr. Nelson fought in World War 2 as well as with the
Korean Conflict.
SFC Nelson was a great father, husband, grandfather, and great-
father to his family. His favorite hobbies were cooking, reading, and collecting various
kinds of railroad material.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife Equilla Rozier Nelson of Columbus, Ga; a son, Carley Nelson.3 OF Columbus, Ga; four
daughters, Carrie(Clarence) Taylor Jr. of Columbus, Ga; Shirley Toole of Chicago, Illinois; Carolyn (James) Lewis of Slivers Springs, Maryland; and Veronica (Harry) Upshaw of Harris County, Ga; one brother. Wilbert Owens of Shreveport, La.
three sisters, Myrtis (L.C.) Glenn, Helen Robinson, and Peggy
Nelson all of Shreveport, Louisiana; five grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins and friends.
