After college, he spent three years in the Peace Corps, working in the jungles of Colombia. He later received a master's degree in philosophy and taught at Michigan State University before joining the 4H program. He became a 4H Youth Director and Community Development Director for M.S.U. and helped inner city children. He was also involved with the Youth Development Institute.
Les was survived by his wife, a brother and twin sister, nephews and nieces, and a beloved step-family.
