Arthur SAUER - Funeral services for Arthur (Artie) SAUER, 81, will be held at 11 am Thursday in the Sutcliffe Mortuary with the Rev. Wayne Welch of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church officiating. Entombment will be in the I.O.O.F. Mausoleum. SAUER died Tuesday in a San Luis Obispo hospital.
He was born August 10, 1890, in San Luis Obispo, where he lived all his life. He operated the A. Sauer Company, a grocery his father established in 1859, until 1947. He was a 1900 (this date must be a typo) graduate of Cal Poly and served on General Pershing's staff in France during WWI.
He was a member of the King David Lodge No. 209, Elk's Lodge No. 322, the American Legion, the San Luis Obispo County Farm Bureau, the San Luis Obispo County historical Society and the Downtown Association.
He is survived by the widow, Pauline and a brother, Fred, both of San Luis Obispo.
