Mrs. Surdila McCullough, 67-year-old Checotah pioneer and widow of the late Dr. H. A. McCullough, died at her home late Tuesday afternoon following a lingering illness.
Mrs. McCullough, who had been a resident of Checotah for the past 32 years, is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Mary Lee of Broken Arrow, Mrs. Opal Thornton of Seminole, Mrs. Ethel Tony of Los Angeles, Mrs. Elizabeth Burton of Mounds, Mrs. Nina Hudson of Broken Arrow, and Mrs. Erele Clemons of Oklahoma City; and two sons, Dewey of Checotah, and Mack of Tahlequah. She also is survived by 20 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baptist church with the Rev. J. M. James, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery in Checotah under direction of the Powers funeral home.
Active pallbearers were Ed Lynn, E. Morgan, Neil Johnson, J.L. Russell, Dewey Mitchell, and Dyton Bennett, all of Checotah. Honoray pallbearers were Bill Marland, James Martin, and Roy Reynolds all of Checotah.
