Katherine M. Housh , 88, of Mount Pleasant, died at 6:35 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A funeral mass for Mrs. Housh will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant. The Rev. Nick Adam will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Housh, the former Katherine Mae Feehan, was born Nov. 5, 1914, in Trenton, the daughter of James Ygurra and Youldia Elarue (Smith) Feehan. She attended school in Trenton. On July 27, 1932, at St. Alphonsus Church in Mount Pleasant, Katherine was united in marriage to Kenton Ygurra ÒRedÓ Housh . Mr. Housh died on April 7, 1984.

Mrs. Housh was employed in the housekeeping departments of the Stardust and the former Broadway Motels in Mount Pleasant. She also worked as an aide at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant and as a baker at the former Wing Bakery in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. Housh was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, St. Alphonsus Altar, Rosary Society and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, James Housh of Lisle, Ill.; five daughters, Mary Reinier of Dickinson, Texas, Leona Wilson of Mount Pleasant, Sandy Johnson of Wellman, Judy Kephart of Mount Pleasant, and Vicki Perkins of Oskaloosa; two brothers, Allen Feehan of Green Castle, Mo., and Stanley Feehan of Joy, Ill.; 25 grandchildren, more than 30 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Housh ; a daughter, Sue Farrington; two grandsons; one great grandson; two sisters and four brothers.

An expression of sympathy may be directed in memorials to the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
