Rev. Peleg Card was on the frontier most of his life after being born in Amenia, Dutchess County, New York. He attended Seminary near Boston where he met his wife, Mary Williams. The 1800 New York Census places him in Herkimer County east of Rome, New York. Then in 1804 he went to Denmark, Lewis County, New York only fifty miles from the Canadian border. Peleg and family moved to Grafton, Ontario forty miles west of Bellville about 1811. Here Peleg, Mary and several of their children and grandchildren are buried in the Card family plot, Farifview Cemetery.
