Mrs. Nata Coon, 72, of Nitro went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 2, 2010, at home, surrounded by her family.

Nata was born November 4, 1938, in Milo, daughter of the late Gail DeWeese and Grace Jarvis. She spent 48 years of her life in Nitro and was a member of the WV Home Mission. She was a volunteer at Nitro Public Library and was named citizen of the year in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Coon Sr.; parents, Gail and Grace Deweese; and sisters, Della Rummel and Linda Cruickshank. Nata is survived by her three sons, George W "Joey" Coon, and Lee Coon, both of Nitro, and Robert Daniel "Danny" and wife Jennifer Coon of Telford, Tenn.; four sisters, Nina Bailey and husband Hollie, Dorothy Black and husband Chuck, Judy Smith and husband Cookie, and Donna Collins and husband Ike; two brothers, Garland and wife Wanda DeWeese and Dickie and wife Tammi DeWeese; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special family, Polly and Donna Coon; and several nieces and nephews.

Alice Nata Coon
Nata Coon, 72, of Nitro died December 2, 2010, at home. Service was 3 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2010, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Coon officiating. Burial followed at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House. Visitation was two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
