Newton Shepherd, age 84 years, of Highwood, Mont., died in this city Thursday morning. The body will be forwarded to Fort Benton this evening on train No. 236, for burial.

Newton Shepherd
On Thursday, Feb. 22, Newton Shepherd, for more than 30 years resident of Highland country, passed away at a Great Falls hospital. The end came following an illness extending over a year or more. The remains were brought here and burial made in Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, the service being held by the Rev. Edward Curran. The decedent is survived by the widow and a son and daughter.
Mr. Shepherd was well known throughout the southern part of the county. Near the home ranch is Shepherd's crossing of Highwood creek, an old landmark of cowboy days.
