Enrolled 29 Apr 61 at Salem, Franklin County, Tennessee. While in Richmond, Virginia, during May or June 61 he was a party of five men from the Company who visited President Davis as a deputation when the Company refused to accept antiquated guns which the Government wanted to issue. They eventually received more modern guns. Present until November and December 1861. Promoted 7 November 1862 to brevet Second Lieutenant. Present September and October 1862 (commanding company) until killed at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 1 July 63.
