February 21, 1997. Brunswick, Ohio. Elmer Bettis, 73, of Brunswick, Ohio, died Friday, February 21, at Willowood Care Center in Brunswick, Ohio, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Bettis was preceded in death by his wife, Vieara McMahan Bettis. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy Bettis, Beckley, West Virigina, and Donald Ray and Mary Bettis of Laurens, South Carolina; stepchildren, Louise Holt, Anaheim, California, Mary Ellen Conway, Newport, Fred and David Gouge, Chicago, and Evelyn Young, Lakewood, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. J.D. Sisk officiating, with burial following the service at Piedmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Brown Funeral Home, Newport, is in charge of the arrangements.
