Carthel A. Van Winkle, 83, passed away September 2, 2011.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September
7 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road, Kansas
City, MO. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carthel was born August 9, 1928 in Green Forest, AR. She
leaves her husband Arlyn E. Van Winkle, married June 15,
1952; sons, Ron Van Winkle and wife, Marilyn and Jerry Van
Winkle and wife, Donna; nine grandchildren; 11 great
grandchildren and sisters Bernita Purdom and Neoma Frost.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements were made by Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas
City, MO.

Arlyn and Carthel Van Winkle will celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary with a reception hosted by their
children and grandchildren beginning at 3 p.m. on June 22,
at the First Assembly of God, Raytown, Mo.

The Van Winkles were married on June 15, 1952, in Green
Forest, Ark., and have lived in the Raytown area since.
Carthel has been a housewife and a volunteer at Truman
Medical Center East. Arlyn retired from Kansas City
Terminal railway in 1988. They have two sons, nine
grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. They are
active members of the Edwardsville Assembly, Edwardsville.
