Nancy T. Gartrell, 86, of Louisville, died Friday at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville’s impatient unit at Norton Audubon Hospital.
Born May 14, 1916, in Ashland, KY, she was married to the late Charles Henry Gartrell and was a former member of the Ashland Kittens basketball team. She was a member of Presbytery’s Global Mission Subcommittee, the Pen Dennis Clun the Compass Club and the Red Cross board. Mrs. Gartrell was regent and district director of the Daughters of the American Revolution, had taught Sunday School at Normal and Trinity Presbyterian Churches, was a volunteer for Friends of the Children, Civil Air Patrol and Wayside Christian Mission and recorded for the blind.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Gartrell Kashuba of Ashland, KY, and Martha Gartrell Bell of Covington, KY; a son Charles Lawrence Gartrell of Coral Springs, FL; and a granddaughter, Lindsay Carol Gartrell.
The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 10200Shelbyville Rd., with visitation after 3 p.m. Tuesday. A graveside service will be held Friday at Ashland Cemetery. Pearson-Ratterman Bros. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
