KIMBERLY, ANNE MORTON, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Easton, MD on Thursday, September 8, 2011.

Born Anne Prather Jones to Saunders Paul Jones Jr. and Norris Witty Jones, of Louisville, Mrs. Kimberly was a seventh generation Kentuckian and able to trace her roots back to the Williamsburg Colony. She attended the Great Barrington School, a finishing school in Europe and the American Ballet School.

In 1939, she married Rogers Clark Ballard Morton. After serving in World War II, Mr. Morton went on to a career in politics. He represented the first district of Maryland in the House of Representatives. He was appointed Chairman of the Republican National Committee and later became Secretary of Interior under Richard Nixon and Secretary of Commerce under Gerald Ford. Mr. Morton died in 1979.

During World War II, Mrs. Kimberly worked as a nurse's aide in Louisville City Free Hospital, while also running the family farm in her husband's absence.

Her son, David Cummins Morton, was born in 1941 followed by his sister, Anne Jones Morton, in 1943. The family moved in 1953 to her beloved home, Presqu'ile, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Mrs. Kimberly had a great love for the environment. She served on the National Park Service Advisory Board from 1975 to 1981 and on the board of the World Wildlife Fund from 1983 to 1986. She famously and fearlessly appeared on the Today Show with a live wolf.

After being widowed, she married John R. Kimberly of Neenah, WI in 1981. Mr. Kimberly, then a neighbor on the Easton Shore of Maryland, was president of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation and very active with local non-profit organizations including the Aspen Institute. Passionate about world travel, Mrs. Kimberly quietly sponsored scholarships enabling foreign students to come to the US.

Mrs. Kimberly, known as "Cat" by those close to her, is survived by her daughter, Anne Wyman; granddaughter, Elizabeth McCance; two great-granddaughters, Phoebe and Sadie, her brother, Saunders Paul Jones III (Jane); her niece, Lucy Fontaine Jones Langman; three nephews, Saunders Paul Jones IV, Paxton Hammon Prather Jones and Rowland Morgan Jones; great-niece, Sarah Lawrence Langman and great-nephew, Townsend Witty Jones. She is also survived by three stepsons, 13 stepgrandchildren and 21 stepgreat-grandchildren on the Kimberly side.

She was predeceased by her son, David.

Services will be held noon Tuesday at Wye Church in Wye Mills, MD.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Talbot County Humane Society, 7894 Ocean Gateway, Easton, MD 2160.
