Elizabeth Williams, Ph.D

Elizabeth Ann Williams, age 55, of Kerrville, Texas passed away, Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at a San Antonio hospital.

She was born to William and Alleen (Lehr) Williams on September 7, 1947 in Jasper, Texas.

Dr. Williams spent her life in the academic world. She graduated from the University of Texas with her Ph.D in computer science. The first half of her career was doing research at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. The latter half was spent in the Washington D.C. area working as a research scientist for the Institute for Defense Analyses, a prime contractor for the Department of Defense.

She was an active marathon runner and was an avid snow skier. She was a member of the Annapolis Striders and various professional organizations, but her heart remained in the Hill Country and the Bandera Ranch where she grew up. She purchased ranchland adjoining the family Bar W Ranch and planned to retire there.

The Bar W Ranch's family cemetery is now her final resting place.

Dr. Williams influenced so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family includes her mother, Alleen Williams of Kerrville, three brothers, Glenn Williams of San Antonio, Karl Williams of Kerrville and Rex Williams of San Antonio and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were October 12, 2002 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Michael Boulette officiating.

Interment followed at the Williams Family Cemetery in Bandera County.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville, Texas.
