Juanita Palmer EUFAULA, AL — Funeral services for Juanita Palmer, 80, will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. EDT at Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Fort Gaines, GA. The Rev. Ralph Estes will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Henry Shugart, John Barnes, Grant Palmer, Sam Shugart, Bert Windham, and William Haag. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Brown, Steve Saccente, Bill Brooks, and Bill Turnipseed. Mrs. Palmer died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at home in Georgetown, GA. Born March 14, 1931 in Pelham, GA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Carroll and Mary Brock Barwick. Mrs. Palmer was a graduate of the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing. She received her Bachelors degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia. She received her Masters degree in nursing from Emory University and her PhD in higher education from Florida State University, with her career in nursing and teaching spanning more than 50 years. Her passion was caring for people and her greatest love was her family.
