Thomas was the sixth child born to Frederick Moody Sr. and Jane McKinley Robinson. After the death of his brother Charles, he became a successful businessman in the trucking industry. At various times he employed his father and brothers Frederick Jr. and John Robinson. He was married to Anna Mitchell, and had one child Lorraine. At some point he and his wife separated. He died alone at the age of 86 in a nursing home in Brooklyn.
