Services were held for George H. Cole, 83, Chetopa, who died at 2:30 p.m. March 14, 1976 at a local nursing home following a short illness. Services were held Tuesday, March 16, in the Sperry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Kenneth L. Dustin officiating.
Burial was in the North Edna cemetery.
Mr. Cole was born September 17, 1892, at Cambridge, Neb. He married Lillie M. Smothers in Kansas City on May 1, 1917.
He lived in Morehead and operated a produce store before moving to Edna in 1919, where he owned and operated the Edna Produced Store. He retired in 1945 and lived in Edna until 1973, when he moved to Chetopa. He was a member of the Elm Chritian Church near Chetopa (sic).
Survivors are three sons, Gilbert, Chetopa, Richard, Edna and Roscoe of Stilwell; a brother, Vern Cole, Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
