Kathleen Bench Bentley, age 92, died at Alpine Valley Care Center in Pleasant Grove, Utah, on May 22, 1998 of causes incident to age.
She was born August 23, 1905 in Manti, Sanpete Co., to Fredrick William and Annie Madsen Bench. She married Joseph Taylor Bentley on June 14, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Kathleen attended school in Boneta, Duchesne County, and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah County. Following her marriage they moved to New York City for employment and future education.
Kathleen was an active member of the LDS Church. Her callings included Assistant Temple Matron of the Provo Utah Temple-1976-1978, Relief Society Teacher, MIA Leadership responsibilities, and Ward Choir member. A large amount of time in Kathleen's life was spent in serving with her husband as mission presidents on three continents, The Northern Mexico Mission, Monterrey Mexico, 1956-1958; The Argentina, Rosario Mission, 1971-1974; and as the first international missionaries to serve in Budapest, Hungary. Many hundreds of missionaries, as well as her own children, have felt her love and gentle nature.
Kathleen is survived by three sons and three daughters, Maurine B. And J. Kimball Hansen of Benson, Arizona; Kathleen B. And Conrad G. Maxfield of Salt Lake City, Utah; Joseph C. And Barbara H. Bentley of Salt Lake City, Utah; Robert F. And Rebecca H. Bentley of Mesa, Arizona; Frances B. And Roy A. Hammond of Provo; Marion T. And Carolyn P. Bentley of Logan, Utah; 37 grandchildren, 130 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at 2 p.m., at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
