Mr. Scott, 85, of Tinton Falls died July 26 at home. He resided in Oceanport and Eatontown prior to moving to Tinton Falls. He was chief of buildings and structures at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, where he was employed 32 years, retiring in 1981. Mr. Scott was a life member and former fire chief of the Eatontown Fire Company, and a former captain and member of the Eatontown First Aid Squad. He also built and raced ice boats, and enjoyed fishing, crabbing and swimming in the area's rivers.

Mr. Scott was predeceased by is first wife, Ruth Smith Scott.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara Smith Laytham Scott; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Maltzman of Eatontown; a sister, Nancy Wymbs of Eatontown; a brother, Steele Scott of Sacramento, Calif.; two stepsons; nine grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters.

Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch. Arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown.
