La Bella M. Schmitz, 90, of New Holstein, died Monday, March 13, 2000 at the Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein where she resided since 1995.
She was born July 3, 1909 in Marytown, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Magdalena Kobriger Schnur. On June 25, 1935, La Bella married Leo G. Schmitz Sr. in Marytown. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1997.
She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Christian Womens' Society and the St Lawrence Seminary Mother's Guild.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann (Ronald W.) Schneider of Appleton; five sons, Leo Jr. (Maria) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joe C. (Barb) of Chilton, LeRoy of New Holstein, David (Helen) of Howards Grove, and Larry (Ann Brill) of Columbia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and; seven step- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein on Tuesday, (TODAY) March 14, 2000 from 5 p.m. until the time of services. A funeral Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, officiated by the Rev. Frank Weber. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. A memorial fund will be established in her name, The Sippel Funeral Home of New Holstein is assisting the family.
