CHRIST GRUPE
Christ Grupe, 97, of 2309 Kroos Ct., a retired Manitowoc County farmer, died at home Sunday noon after being stricken with an apparent heart attack. He had been in apparent good health.
A native of the Town of Centerville, he was born Aug. 4, 1870, a son of the late Henry and Caroline Grupe. He attended St. John's Lutheran School in Centerville and was confirmed in that church April 6, 1884.
Mr. Grupe had farmed much of his adult life, having purchased the Centerville home farm from his father in 1896. In 1928, he sold the farm to his son, the late Herbert, and moved to Sheboygan. Even in his advanced years, Mr. Grupe had continued to be active, doing his own housekeeping and yard work. He married Anna Reinemann on May 9, 1898. His wife died in November, 1953. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church here.
Surviving are a son, Elmer, and a daughter, Mrs. Adela Begalke, Sheboygan;nine grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Arnold Wenger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Cleveland. Friends may call at Nickel's Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday and from noon at the church.
