U.S. Congressman. He attended Aurora Academy in 1831, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1834 and commenced to practice law at Seneca Falls, in New York. In 1849, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-first and Thirty-second Congresses, serving until 1853. After his term, he resumed practice of law as register in bankruptcy until his death at age 83.
