She was raised on a farm in Newdale, Yancey Co., NC where she learned about farming and how to take care of herself and others.

EDUCATION:
Boonford School and graduated from Micaville High School in April 1936

EMPLOYMENT:
-Prior to 1942:-She worked in a knitting mill in Spruce Pine, NC
-.In 1942 she moved to Maryland to get a job at Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Company. It was from her work that she became known as "Rosie The Riveter"
-In 1945 she worked at Lockbourne Air Field near Columbus, Ohio -cleaning spark plugs.
When her husband was transferred to Illinois she took a job in a local 5 and 10 cent store - Champlain
From 1964-1981 she worked at the Maryland State Department of Motor Vehicles.
LIFE IN MARYLAND:
Until 1975 she lived in Essex, Baltimore County, Maryland but
moved to Fallston, Harford Co., MD
There she became a member of the Fallston United Methodist Church

She was 92 at the time of her death.
