Bode, Waldemar E. "Wally" baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. Beloved husband of Elizabeth T. Bode (nee Twomey); dear father of Lori McNicoll (Mike) and Kay Bode, Mary Ann Estey and Amy Bode; dear grandfather of Shane Estey (Crystal), Elizabeth Howell (Lou) and Tom McNicoll; dear brother of Mary Virginia Bode; dear brother-in-law of Tim Twomey (Sandy) and Ann Twomey; our dear uncle and friend of many. Wally attended Christian Brothers College and St. Louis University where he played football and baseball. After graduation, with a degree in engineering, he spent five years in the Air Force serving as a fighter pilot. He closed his career in a U-2 squadron with fighter pilot Gary Powers. Wally was employed at Honeywell for nine years and McDonnell Douglas for twenty-five. After retirement, he served as a member of the Serra Club, on the Board of Our Lady's Inn, and as Board President of the St. Louis Archdiocesan Commission on Housing for the Poor. He was also a member of the Chesterfield Visionary Task force. Wally co-founded the St. Louis LaSalle Leadership program which provides focused training for inner city grade school boys and teaching experience for CBC students. Wally was an active parishioner of Incarnate Word Catholic Church of many years. He requested his remains given to St. Louis University Medical School.
