Mildred Acker Claytor, 66, of 220 Paul St., Harrisonburg died Sunday morning at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since May 5.

Mrs. Claytor was born July 18,1916, in Harrisonburg and was a daughter of the late Dr. J. Silor Garrison and Mary Fletcher Garrison.

She had taught school more than 30 years in Charlotte, N.C., and at Spotswood Elementary School in Harrisonburg before retiring in 1981.

She was a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ, the Massanutton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Alpha Delta Kappa, a teachers sorority.

She was married twice. On Sept. 2, 1939, she married H. Sidney Acker, who died April 19,1964.

On Dec. 21, 1972, she married Olen Claytor, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, William H. Acker of Joplin, Mo., and James B. Acker of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Irene Molyneaux of Charlottesville and Virginia Drake of Lexington; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephens United Church of Christ by the Rev. James D. Singletary Jr. Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery.

The body is at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family said contributions may be made to St. Stephens United Church of Christ or to the hospice unit at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
