From Der Nord Westen, 17 Oct. 1895:
Hugo Mill, son of Gottlieb Mill of Centerville, died early on the morning of 11 Oct. after a long illness. He was born 18 Nov. 1866.
His casket was buried Sun. in the family plot in the Lutheran Cemetery of Town Centerville. The funeral cortege was at least a mile long and gave witness to the affection with which the deceased was held. The Centerville Fire Company followed the hearse on foot since Hugo had been a long time member and twice served as captain.
The Centerville Germania Chorus, to which Hugo also belonged, was unable to follow the casket because too many members were absent. Pastor Sprengling delivered the funeral oration. The deceased had his life insured for $1,000 which sum he had bequeathed to his ill sister. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters, another sister having died several years ago.
