Eleanore Crippen Moomau, age 88, of Petersburg, WV, died on Sunday, April 20, 1997, at the Grant County Nursing Home.
Born February 5, 1909 at Roaring Branch, PA, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Pearl (King) Crippen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Moomau, Feb. 9, 1980.
Mrs. Moomau attended Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music, Winchester, VA. She graduated from Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing. She did post graduate work at the Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital, New York City, was Grant County Director of the Department of Health and Human Resources for 24 years, was a chartered member of the Petersburg BPW club and Petersburg Garden Club, chartered member of the Valley View Golf Course, member of the South Branch Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and past Matron and 50 year member of the Moorefield Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 102. She was an ordained Elder of the Petersburg Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are one brother, William Crippen of Holiday, Florida; two foster children, Janet Barr of Petersburg, WV and Melvin Cullers of Aurora, WV; four foster grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Donald G. Scofield and Rev. Ray Rodeheaver officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg, WV. Moorefield Order of Eastern Star conducted services at the funeral home on Tuesday evening.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV.
