Walter F. Zimmermann, 75, of 12030 Lakeshore Road, Cleveland, died Saturday, October 27, at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John & St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Henry F. Koch will officiate with burial at St. John (Kassa) Cemetery, Town of Centerville.
Mr. Zimmermann was born January 19, 1909, in the Town of Herman, Sheboygan County, son of the late Louis and Louisa Olm Zimmermann. He graduated from Kiel High School and Sheboygan Business College. Mr. Zimmermann was employed at Kohler Company from 1928-1934. He was united in marriage to Lydia Schuette on September 6, 1934, at St. John & St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cleveland, where he had served on the council. He had been president of the Congregation. Mr. Zimmermann served on the School Board of Maple Leas (sic) School in the Town of Centerville and was director of St. John Cemetery in the Town of Centerville. He was member of Cleveland Senior Citizens Club where he served on the steering committee for organizing the club.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia; a son, Donald W. Zimmerman of Manitowoc; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Janice) Schneider of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Anna) Lutze of Manitowoc and Mrs. Frieda Hartmann of Sheboygan; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Zimmermann of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, Dean and Diane Zimmermann of Manitowoc, David, Dean, Mark, Brian and Kim Schneider of Tucson, Arizona; three stepgrandchildren and two great stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Adolph, George and Louis Jr. and a brother-in-law, Arvin Hartmann.
Friends may call at Stoltenberg Funeral Chapels, Cleveland, after 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Zimmermann's name for St. John & St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and St. Nicholas Dialysis Center.
