Royal Polk Carter), Gladys Elsie (married Frank Monroe Archey), Mary Lorena (married Mr. Busch), Ruby May (married Ernest Monroe Ballard), John Cecil, Alvin Crews, William Lawrence, and Wilson Wayne.

Mrs. J. A. Borah
The funeral services of Mrs. J. A. Borah, whose death was caused by an automobile accident near her home in St. Louis, last week, was held at Tom's Prairie church at 11 o'clock on Thursday of last week. Rev. Scroggs of Burnt Prairie officiating, assisted by Rev. J. T. Coleman, of this city. A great crowd gathered from near and far to pay their final tribute of respect to the memory of the departed one, and to extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives. The following tribute to the deceased was prepared by friends in St. Louis and read at the short services held there before bringing the body to this city: "It has pleased Almighty God to take unto Himself by a blessed end in Jesus Christ, the soul of Florence Borah who was injured in an automobile accident near her home. She leaves mourning her untimely departure a husband, ten adult children, 3 grand children, and aged Mother, Mrs. Emma Crews, one sister, Mrs. Della Wilson, one brother, J. A. Crews, and a number of friends and relatives. Mrs. Borah was a kind Mother and a grand neighbor, liked by everyone. What pleases us best of all is the fact that she believed to be prepared to meet her God & Judge. She became a Christian at the age of 20 years. On March 13, 1889 she was married to J. A. Borah. This marriage was a very happy and congenial one. We have every assurance that she died trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ for her Salvation. Her burial will take place near Fairfield, Illinois, on Thursday at 11 o'clock A.M. her former home. Her trials and her griefs are past.
A blessed end is hers at last.
She bore Christ's yoke and did his will,
And tho' she died she liveth still.
We shall meet but we shall miss her
There will be one vacant chair
Round our fireside sad and lonely,
We will miss dear Mother there.
But we know you are with Jesus
And the angels round the throne,
There we'll meet you precious Mother

Driver Rearrested After Fatality-Toll Raised to 98 for year.
Injuries suffered when she was run down by an automobile proved fatal at 11:45 p.m. yesterday to Mrs. Florence Borah, 52, of 26-0 North Tenth Street. A compound skull fracture caused death. Mrs. Borah was struck Saturday afternoon by an automobile driven by George Halgens, 17 of 1933 Sullivan Avenue. The Accident occurred in front of 2602 North Tenth Street, when Mrs. Borah started to cross the street. She was dragged several feet. The driver speed on, but Mrs. Borah's son, Alvin, jumped on the running board and halted the driver, compelling him to return to the scene. He then learned that it was his Mother who had been the victim. Arrest and released after the accident, Halgens was rearrested at 2:25 a.m. today, following Mrs. Borah's death. The victim is survived by her husband, J.A. Borah, and 10 children whose ages range from 16 to 34. Mrs. Borah's death brings the total automobile fatalities for the year up to 98. An error in checking in the Coroner's office had caused earlier reports that this was the one handbreadth fatality.

Mrs. Florence Borah, 52, 2609 North Tenth street, sustained a fractured skull and internal injuries at 6:30 o'clock last night, when she was struck by an automobile driven by Joseph Halgens, 17, of 1933A Sullivan Avenue, in front of her home. After hitting the woman, Halgens continued to drive on, but was stopped a block away by several boys, one of whom was Mrs. Borah's son, Alvin, 18, who jumped on the running board and compelled Halgens to return to the scene of the accident. Halgens, who was driving north on Tenth street, told the police was unable to stop the machine after striking Mrs. Borah because he was excited. He was arrested and charged with felonious wounding and leaving the scene of an accident. Mrs. Borah was taken to the City Hospital.
