I got Shadow from a neighbor that lived next door in the same duplex. Her Siamese cat had just had a litter of kittens and I had first pick. All the kittens looked like the mama, Siamese. Except one. Shadow was the only black cat in the litter, and he was the only male.
I saw Shadow everyday until we were able to ween him from his mama and I could take him home. Since I had him since he was little, I was able to do things that most cats wouldn't let you do. I gave Shadow baths on a regular basis. He actually liked them. I had a problem with him trying to jump into the tub with me on occasion, I had to start making sure he was out before I got in. He would also allow me to brush him out and blow dry him with the hair dryer. So odd for a cat, but he enjoyed it.
When he got a bit older, Shadow became very territorial and started getting into fights. One time I had to take him to the vet because of an abscess. The vet was shocked to see that Shadow did not move when he used the shaver or cleaned him up.
We eventually moved out of state and I think that the change didn't settle well with Shadow. He left one day after about a month and never came home. It wasn't like him, so I believed that something must have happened to him. I never saw my baby again.
