Publisher. Published first dime book -Malaeska, the Indian Wife of the White Hunter in 1860, success of this book led him to publish several series of dime paperbacks.

"THE MEN PROMINENT IN BUILDING UP COOPERSTOWN during the last half century, as their names recur to us at this time ... ERASTUS F. BEADLE, who spent a part of his early life in Cooperstown, was greatly attached to the place. He had accumulated a handsome fortune in business elsewhere, which he commenced to spend here in 1882, soon after his return to this village as a resident. He purchased a large tract of land, opened 'Nelson Avenue' through it, erected some handsome residences on it and on Pine street, bought and modernized several dwellings located on different streets; of 'Glimmerview,' his own residence, he made one of the most elegant mansions in the village.---These eleven dwellings are now all owned and occupied by different persons." ["The Freeman's Journal" (Cooperstown, NY), Feb. 15, 1900, Page 3]
