"THE MEN PROMINENT IN BUILDING UP COOPERSTOWN during the last half century, as their names recur to us at this time ... ERASTUS F. BEADLE, who spent a part of his early life in Cooperstown, was greatly attached to the place. He had accumulated a handsome fortune in business elsewhere, which he commenced to spend here in 1882, soon after his return to this village as a resident. He purchased a large tract of land, opened 'Nelson Avenue' through it, erected some handsome residences on it and on Pine street, bought and modernized several dwellings located on different streets; of 'Glimmerview,' his own residence, he made one of the most elegant mansions in the village.---These eleven dwellings are now all owned and occupied by different persons."
