U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York City and commenced the practice of medicine in Monticello, Indiana. During the Civil War, he served as a Surgeon in the Union Army. After the war, he resumed the practice of medicine and was president of the Indianapolis, Delphi & Chicago Railroad Company, (1872-74). In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress, serving until 1877. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he organized the Central Medical College in Indianapolis, Indiana and served as dean until his death.
