Born in Lebanon County, he was a son of the late John and Lydia Kettering Bachman.
He was retired from the state highway department and he was also a retired farmer. He was a member of the Quentin Fire Co.
Surviving are eight children: Myrtle, wife of A. Herman Light, Lebanon; Earl, Midwest City, Okla.; Simon, Elverson RD 2; Anna, wife of Fred Shenk, Quentin; LeRoy, Hershey; Esther, wife of Paul Flocken, Lebanon RD 4; Lena, wife of Ezra Hower, Lebanon, and Robert, Palmyra.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Wenger, Modesta, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Forney, Annville RD 1.
