He lived the way he died, on his own terms. Frank Saracino died July 31, 2011. Born May 12, 1925 in Concrete, Colo. He lived in Fort Collins where he painted and sandblasted. He painted for the government at Pearl Harbor. His love was fishing and he built his dream, Frank's Trout Pond in the 60s at the corner of Mulberry and Overland Trail. He loved kids and catered to the handicapped, young, old, and tourists. He married Vivienne (Wetzler) Bernhardt of Loveland. He is survived by daughters, Fran Fleming of Ft. Collins, and Ardyce Clark (Ira) of Marion, Ohio. His son, Frank Saracino Jr. was killed in Viet Nam in 1969, who received the Distinguished Service Cross. Frank was very proud of his son and encouraged people to read the three books that were written about him, What Are You Going To Do Send Me to Viet Nam , and Fiddler's Green by Jack Stoddard, and An American Tragedy by Brig. Gen. John C. "Doc" Bahnsen, Jr. He is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Allen (Heather) of Highlands Ranch, Tammy Fiegel of Parker; great grandchildren Madison, Colton, Braydon Allen, Luke, Jared, Josh Fiegl; numerous nieces and nephews, both great grand and great great grand. He was preceded in death by his mother Clara and father Lawrence Saracino; brother, Albert (Jessie), Larry (Roma); sisters, Theresa DePenina, and Connie Skinner. A special thanks to Dr. John Bender for his outstanding professional, thoughtful, compassionate care. And special thanks to the care givers over the years.

Graveside service will be September 24, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery followed by a celebration of his life at Frank's Trout Pond. A mass will be said for Frank at John 23rd Catholic Church on September 25, 2011 at 11:15 a.m.
