August Herald Waldenstrom, born at Varmland, Sweden, November 23, 1858, died at his home near Lindon, Colorado, June 23, 1924, at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 29 days. He is survived by his widow, two daughters and a son and several grandchildren. He came to this country in 1884, moving from Nebraska to Colorado in 1910.
He was brought up in the Lutheran faith and lived a Christian life.
Interment in the Abbott Cemetery. Funeral services in charge of Rev. W.G. White of Akron.

Notes:
August came to USA about 1885-1889, according to daughter-in-law, Marie Waldenstrom in a 1978 letter to Susan. Marie said he left home in a huff when his mother remarried after death of his father. Never wrote home again. He had a brother who went to Paris.

Marriage; Wedding ring inscribed Nov 9, 1891, in possession of great-granddaughter, Janice.

August worked for municipal gas company in Omaha, Neb.
He also laid water pipes for the new city of Omaha. According to Leila (granddaughter-in-law), there were no plans drawn for the location of the water pipes, so he was often called in to locate the pipes when repairs were needed.

August homesteaded near Lindon, CO in 1910. (About 35 miles south of Akron)
According to the death certificate, at time of death in 1924, had lived in Abbott, Washington County, Colorado for 13 years and 4 months. Cause of death "injury of hip in 1919 followed by paralysis of entire leg lower extremities."
Great-granddaughter, Joyce, has the July 9, 1924 $100 receipt for purchase of a regal blue limestone momument from C.F. Littler of Sterling, Colorado.The monument to be 3 feet 6 inches of height and to be erected in Abbott cemetery during the fall of 1924. The $100 is to be paid upon delivery of monument. A drawing of monument and inscription is on the back of the receipt. No undertaker.
