Edwardsville Intelligencer Saturday Febuary 26, 1916 Died this Morning Charles P. Sebastian called about noon today, He had been ill for more than 12 years past. _________________________________________ Charles Pendleton Sebastian, aged 67 years, a life time resident of Edwardsville and vicinity passed away at his home at 615 St.Louis street at 10:40 o'clock this morning, after a lingering illness of twelve years. The cause of his death was lung trouble and general disability. Mr. Sebastian during his long illness at times had many serious attacks, but always rallied and recovered sulticlently to get about the house. this winter was a hard one and his health became worse every week for the past two months his condition has been very serious and during the past week his death at times was expected. He was conscious up to the last and shortly before noon without a murmur his life passed out. His death was a shock to the community, as friends did not think his condition so serious. He was well known here, and had many friends because of his kind and generous nature, He possessed a strong will power and held on to the very last with determination not to give up. Mr. Sebastian was born March 6, 1849 and died February 25, 1916. His birthplace was a farm at Center Grove. He attended schools near here, and his early boyhood was spent on the farm. He was married to Miss Martha Tartt. They resided on a farm. Twenty years ago Mr. Sebastian retired from the farm and had been living in Edwardsville ever since. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha Sebastian and five children. They are: Paul Sebastian, assistant state's attorney; and Miss Grace of Edwardsville; Mrs. Mae Andel of Tennessee; Frank, of Chicago and Claude, of St. Louis, He also has a sister in St. Louis, Miss Julia Sebastian
